Robert Powers joined Gooden in 2019 as the Latin teacher. Robert earned his Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from Johns Hopkins University, and he has almost ten years of experience teaching in public and independent schools. When he taught in Baltimore County, he helped pilot a spoken Latin immersion program at two of the schools, and he still uses elements of that teaching method today.
Outside of teaching at Gooden, Robert is the founder of a small educational business in Sierra Madre where he supports high school students with college planning. In his free time, Robert loves to volunteer, serving on the board of the Kiwanis Club of Arcadia Young Professionals.
