At The Gooden School, we feel the world is our classroom. Experiential learning can offer so much more to a student’s education than can be accomplished within the traditional four walls of a classroom, and with the weather and resources we enjoy in Southern California, the school takes advantage of those opportunities.
Trips off campus occur at every grade level and build upon the classroom experience. At the lower grades such as kindergarten and first grade, trips are shorter and include regular walks to the local library and visits to the police and fire departments. In the fourth grade, students attend their first overnight trip to Sacramento to complete their study of California history.
Themes for increasingly longer trips in fifth through eighth grades range from science to social studies, with a capstone trip to Washington D.C. and Virginia in eighth grade.
