Fourth of July

Are you in town for the fourth of July? Stop by Sierra Madre!

Gooden is a sponsor of the Sierra Madre Fourth of July Festivities and we hope you all can join us! We will be participating in the Fourth of July parade on July 5, with a marching band (organized by Mrs. Ewen) and cheer team (organized by Mrs. Kim and Ms. Storey).

The Sierra Madre 4th of July Parade is an annual tradition that is an integral part of the Sierra Madre community! This hometown parade features community members, organizations, classic cars, marching bands, kids on their decorated bikes and so much more. The parade route will begin at the corner of Sierra Madre Blvd. and Sunnyside Avenue, and the exact route is TBD based on LA County health orders at that time.

Parade participation is open to all; young, young-at-heart, and everything in between. Masks must be worn (in accordance with the most up-to-date health orders) and walking groups must be prepared to have to go mobile if the LA County Health Orders dictate.

This event is subject to approvals from state and local governmental agencies, and could be canceled at any moment to the Health Orders.

For questions regarding parade registration please contact the 4th of July Committee at 4thofjulysierramadre@gmail.com or the Community Services Department at 626.355.5278.

For more information on all of the 4th of July Festivities, please visit www.sierramadrefourthofjuly.com/

Hope to see you there!

Gooden Gives Back

What IS the Gooden Gives Back Drive you ask?

Gooden Gives Back is a yearly donation drive for our local homeless/at-risk shelter Friends In Deed. Due to the pandemic, demands for the Women's Room at Friends In Deed have never been higher, and we will be collecting items on May 20-21 at morning carpool. There will be drop off bins during morning carpool on both sides of campus.

We will be collecting Gold Items and items for the Women’s Room. Gold Items are the items that are used every day such as cereal, flour, sugar, canned goods, rice, coffee, etc. They are especially low on canned tuna/chicken, cereal, and hearty soups/chili/stew, in that order. They can also use canned corn and canned peaches. The Women's Room would also love travel sized toiletries, especially shampoo & conditioner, soap, deodorant, and body wash as well as large & extra large flip flops.

Gooden teachers will be talking to students during the week leading up to the collection about the importance of community engagement, especially at this time. We suggest having the same conversations with your children.

If you'd like to join us, please let me know!

Let’s refill the Women's Room at Friends In Deed!

Session 1 is from June 21 - July 9 and Session 2 runs July 12-30. Sign up for one class or the whole day, registration is now open!
